Jorge Zorro is busting out on the Seattle music scene after a 20 year hibernation. Jorge used the time off to rearrange and finely hone his musical and life priorities.

Jorge started on guitar in the mid-1970s while in junior high school. Earliest influences were Chuck Berry, Keith Richards, and the Ventures, followed by Clapton, Page, Beck, and Hendrix. Jorge was doing the usual school dances with his friends. They got serious at the end of high school and formed the infamous Bellingham band "the Sharx" in 1980. The Sharx did four sets of cover tunes and had their own giant PA system and an old blue school bus to haul around the gear. The Sharx worked almost every weekend, with Jorge on lead guitar, doing shows in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.

Jorge was starting to write songs that didn't quite fit in with the Sharx. In 1983 he left the Sharx and moved to Seattle to hook up with the proto-grunge band DSML. Those were some creative times, with Jorge's music blending well with Dan Madison's vocals and vision. But punk music wouldn't pay the rent. Jorge bailed out of the scene to work on his day gig.

Jorge worked hard to get his degrees in physics and geophysics and to establish a professional career as a seismologist. At the same time he got interested in traditional living skills, community building, and also sailing. There would be no going back to rock music.

Jorge's musical vision is to promote community and tradition and to celebrate cultural diversity. And sing some sea chanteys, too!
